I'm in the same boat. Applied in December, noticed that the $80 was charged to my credit card Jan 25, still no sign of an interview.

It did sound to me that they assume some jobs will be eliminated because of this. Any one else get this kind of comment?

Yikes. I was thinking of that the last couple of times I passed through pre-clearance at YUL; should I ask if NEXUS was coming soon, or would that be like asking a phone agent if they were finally about to offshore her job to Bangalore...? So, feeling that discretion is the better part of valour, I chose not to ask.

I got Canpass and Nexus ground a while ago. Each took about a month. As I noted above, they automatically added my Canpass iris scans to my Nexus account, no separate application needed.

I whizzed right through. I am a US citizen which may make a difference.

NEXUS - Got It!

I called last Friday and got an interview first thing Monday morning.

So, I took a drive out to YYZ-T1 to have interviews re. Nexus today. Btw, if you have to go, park in Level 5 of the Short Term Parking lot. Go over the SOUTH bridge and into the terminal. The current office is just to the left of the little coffee shop on the 2nd floor. Apparently they will be moving one level up to snazzier offices soon.

Anyway, as I already have a CANPASS, the Canadian side of the interview just had to check my documents again and scan them in. The iris scan got transferred from the CANPASS. Afterward, she gave me some literature, explained the TDC for highway travel back into Canada.

Then, there was a LONG wait for US Immigration to do interview. I probably sat around for over an hour...I'd booked the time off, so it wasn't a big deal, but one guy behind me had a meeting back downtown and another was flying out the same day so he was pressed for time.

The US Officer was extremely nice, but was a newbie with crib sheets. I doubt that had that much of an impact on the process, but for whatever reason even though they had all the info from me for a month...they STILL had to run real time criminal background checks etc. while I waited. Strange.

Total time 2 hours. I would guess that it is a process they are still refining and that it will get better. Apparently, last week, there was nobody there, but this week it is a bit busy.

Now, let's see if I'll get the 2 hours back during the next 5 years while the card is valid. :-)

NEXUS interviews

I got my NEXUS card from NEXUS land, in Fort Erie adjacent to the Peace Bridge. The process was pretty fast since they've been doing it for a while. If you already have a CANPASS iris scan and you have business down that way, it might be easier than going to Pearson.

Incidentally, the tolls on the Whirlpool bridge are now paid from a prepaid account keyed to your NEXUS card, and a flyer says you'll be able to pay the tolls at Queenston and Rainbow with it as well. Too much stuff in one place if you ask me.

For those of you who have had your interview, could you tell us when you sent in your application?

Besides background checks, what are the US officers asking you? Besides identification, did you need to bring anything else along with you?

He didn't ask to see anything other than my passport. Nor, for that matter, did the Canadian officer.

I received a letter from Nexus to set up an interview. I have tried calling the YYZ location numerous times and they have not answered the phones ever. I left a message a couple of days ago and am awaiting a return call.

In the meantime I called YUL yesterday morning and received a call back within 2 hrs. I set up something on a monday morning mid month but it might be a challenge getting to YUL for 8am since the earliest flight from YYZ to YUL is 6:30am and if de-icing is required in YYZ it can create up to an hr delay on the arrival.

How long does it take to have YYZ call back for an interview and are the dates far out in to the future or relatively short waits?

If you're making a special trip and live in Toronto, why not just drive down to Fort Erie?

I thought you could only do the Nexus Air Interview at specified "AIR" designated Enrollment Centers? ie: YVR, YYZ or YUL. I can choose to connect through YUL on my monday am commute to get this done but would naturally prefer not to since there are time constraints.

Is Fort Erie a designated Air Enrollment Center? I have Canpass already so just need to do the US part of the process since my retina's are already scanned.

I thought they said they'd rolled all three programs together. I enrolled in NEXUS at Ft Erie and as I noted above, they automatically added my CANPASS iris scans.

In any event, Ft Erie's phone number is 905-994-6546 so you can call them and ask.

Thanks for the info. I spoke to someone in Ft. Erie, explained the situation and they connected me directly to the YYZ office where I was able to speak with an agent and book for this friday. Awesome!! Hopefully this leads to decreased times crossing at the airports!

As a side note. YUL is supposed to be getting the kiosks in April from what I was told from the YUL agent yesterday.

Sent in my application early February. Received their letter last week. Left a message (after a couple of failed attempts as the voice mail box was full) on Thursday, got their call back on Friday, appointment was today, was in & out in half an hour, painless experience altogether and emerged with fully functioning Nexus card (along with instructions on what to do if it didn't work!).
Besides passport, took along vehicle ownership (as indicated on their letter), but was also asked for insurance details (company & policy #). Clearly this isn't critical, as I didn't have it with me (could easily have retrieved it from vehicle) but officer was content with insurance company name only.
Was asked if I had any visa status - which I do, an L1B, but didn't have to produce any documentation regarding it.
No other questions and no other documentation needed.
