At approximately 4cents /mile 500K is worth at least 20,000 dollars and buying a 4000 dollar TV for 20,000 dollars is somewhat ridiculous. You may not get seats on AC but you can get seats on UA/LH/TG/SQ fairly reasonably. I use the Business/First class awards for my long haul holiday travels and have not had any significant troubles getting seats.
