Upgrade on AC codeshare

Tried a search but did not find a clear answer
What is the policy on using SSWU on AC codeshare flights operated by another Star Alliance partner?
In specific I refer to YUL-ZRH on AC/Swiss?

Thanks

You could try going to the source... the SSWU itself:

Validity > Transferability
All schedule flights operated by Air Canada or Air Canada Jazz. Air Canada code-share flights operated by other airlines and charter flights are not eligible. Standby upgrade requests at the airport are permitted for Star Alliance codeshare flights operated by Air Canada.

DO your research and verify what the fare class on the codeshare flight converts to on the AC fare class.

Kind of OT but just confirming

As soon as Swiss becomes a member of *A I could an SSWU it on an LX ticket when flying ZRH-YYZ right?

Cheers

huh?

I want to fly YUL to ZRH and can by a ticket from AC.com with an AC number but it states operated by Swiss Airways, so that makes it difficult!

Same wording on SWU's as well.

This topic has been asked many times on this board, FYI. I do agree that the FT search engine sucks ars though.

Only if the flight is operated by Air Canada

In short:

If it's NOT AC metal, you can't use an Air Canada Upgrade Certificate of any kind.
If it's AC metal but not AC stock, then it's upgrade at the gate for the AC flight.
If it's AC metal and AC stock, you can upgrade per normal procedures.

So to your answer, if your LX ticket has AC metal on it, then you can upgrade at the gate for the AC metal flights ONLY.
