Prestige members are offered a slight discount, and Elites a similar one for their partners. Late in the year, AC often sells memberships for the following year with one or two months bonus months so the yearly cycle matches the elite member cycles [March through February]. So if you buy in December or January you get these months added in, and your membership expires the following Feb 28th.

Thanks. I am more interested in the Red Carpet Club access that comes with membership.

Wow! Didn't realize that general RCC membership was US$500, with spouse, $800; even with 1K status, it is $300 and $350 with spouse!

If you really had to have access, then it looks obvious that even buy a MLL Membership at just C$375 and with spouseC$550 for the most part, bar 1K members, is worth it.

Not fair that AC E/SE and all other *G members get the RCC lounge for free while UA top tier members still have to dish out !

Well if anyone's unfair, it's UA being unfair to its members. AC Elites get into RCCs because AC pays for them to be there.

Which is probably what you meant.

Why don't just get an American Express AeroplanPlus Platinum or CIBC Aerogold to access the MLL?

OP wants access to RCC, not MLL.

If you are flying INTERNATIONAL on UA as a gold member with UA you get in without a RCC membership... so anyone flying from/to CND on UA gets lounge access free..... not that its a big deal... even the internet costs money. Booze is free... but you have to ask for 2 free drink chits at the door........... it stops AC MLL members from stealing the bottles and taking the glasses....[just kidding]

No one ever told me at a RCC I could have free drink chits. Is this for all AC elites using RCC's? Hasn't the practice been discontinued?

Hmmm.... I have no problem using RCC for non-international UA flights in the US. Did it all the time SEA - ORD - BUF last year. I'll have to ask next time I am in the UA lounge for the drink CHITS. That's definitely a benefit I did not know about...
