Best Maple Leaf Lounge?

I was wondering which MLL the forumers out there think is the best. I've only been to 8 of the 19 and out of those I'd say that hands down Vancouver-domestic stands out although I think Edmonton does pretty well too as a smaller one. I like how open and airy Vancouver's is which contrasts with many of the older, smaller, dark and claustrophobic lounges. What is more, I have yet to be in a MLL that provides any better selection of snacks/drinks and amenities. The reason I ask is that I am pretty disappointed by all three of Toronto's, which I presume should be the flagship showcases for AC (admittedly T-2's and IFT will be gone in a couple of years) and so was trying to figure out if Toronto's are just abnormalities or if there are superiour MLL's out there.

Welcome to FT jbb. :)

With the exception of the new YTT and infield YYZ MLLs, I have visited all domestic ones.

In the large category lounge, I have to agree with you that the YVR domestic MLL is my favorite.

In the smaller lounge category, I must admit to being quite partial to my home station YWG MLL. I love the fireplace in the winter while sitting in the wingback chairs sipping a red wine.

I like the YVR Dom MLL as well. The business area downstairs offers a nice little hideaway with the cubicles and the mini-offices ^. Food selection is nice too with a great outside view of the mountains and the runway/gates.

I also like the YVR TB MLL simply because of its architecture and ambience. YEG isn't bad either.

I like the YYZ Dom MLL too because of its architecture and decor/ambience.

I think I've been in eight or nine MLLs. I have to agree with airbus320, that fireplace in the YWG lounge sets it apart. If I remember correctly, it's set in Tyndall stone, isn't it?

I also like the lounge at LHR, but I guess that doesn't count as a pure MLL.

Hi,

I liked very much the YYZ T1 MLL and the Montreal MLL ( loved the soup at lunchtime- better than sandwiches that the BA Terraces lounges often give out) . They were not too busy either. The shower in the YYZ T1 was useful after an afternoon of walking in Niagara Falls.)

The MLL in Quebec was small but a nice place to chill for a few minutes.

Regards

of the 9 MLL lounges I've been in I'd have to say the domestic YVR lounge, the YYZ T1 lounge is nice, but it is far too big, the YVR lounge is a good size. The new MLL transborder lounge is also very nice and open and quiet as well.

Oh, I am partial to the YVR Dom and YWG MLL. That Tyndall stone fireplace is a great idea for a lounge in Winnipeg.

The best MLL was the 'old' YYZ T1 lounge that had the best view of any facility in the system and was, at least in my opinion, the most comfortable.

Too bad it now 'dust-in-the-wind'.

Cheers

I guess the question of best MLL includes ones that are now out of service? In that case, then yes, Old T1 MLL was nice, especially considering how crappy/retro/old looking T1 was.

Ah if we're doing that then the lounges in the 70's and 80's were the best because no riff raff like Amex platinum or FF'ers got in and people actually paid for their tickets up front or had that "en route" gold card which was not easy to get and IIRC cost 175 year in 1985 approx. I still have the brass Maple leaf paper weight they gave us then. Classy

Hands down- my favorite was the old MLL at HNL. :)

Oh, what fun we used to have in there. -until some fool decided to close it down.

MCM.

What did you do with the brass paper weight, bang it up against the head of some poor labour leader that you've abused. :D

Real classy.

Cheers

Yea right after they brought the sledge hammer to a negotiating meeting

on a recent YUL-YOW-ORD routing, I decided not to go to the MLL in the old YOW terminal, but check out the post-clearance MLL in the shiny new terminal. It was lovely, and the matrons exceptionally helpful and polite. Simply the best MLL ever. ;)
