I agree with the posts suggesting that the YVR domestic lounge is the best. Having been a former CP frequent flyer, I am glad that many people think the best MLL is a former Empress Lounge (if I am correct, the YVR lounge is the only former Empress lounge in the MLL network?).

1. YWG MLL - one reason being is that you are never more than 100 feet from your departure gate.

2. YVR Empress Lounge.

YOW was okay when AC flights actually left from the old ATB.

Oh, what fun we used to have in there. -until some fool decided to close it down.

MCM.

I have been flying through Honolulu a fair bit recently on AC and am still disappointed at the Japan Airlines lounge the AC passengers have to settle with. You'd think that a very well respected, major international carrier with as many flights to/from that airport as JAL would have a much nicer executive lounge. Snacks are non-existent, the alcoholic drink selection is Budweiser and a very small selection of spirits, there is no wireless internet and since it is on the ground floor of the garden level there are no windows with nice views. I've been reading up on HNL lounges and apparently the only decent one is UA's although since that is in another concourse away from AC's gates we've been stuck with sharing JAL's. I still cannot figure out why AC would choose to share with JAL when their Star Alliance partner, Air New Zealand has a lounge just next door.

It seems as if there is general consensus that the nicest current MLL is Vancouver-Domestic in the large category and Winnipeg's in the small- although I would like to mention that Edmonton's has a fireplace as well! Since I have never been to Winnipeg, I cannot comment on whether Edmonton's fireplace is as nice... though there certainly are no wingback chairs to sip wine in!

As for old, non-existent lounges, another great Canadian (CP) lounge was YYZ T3's which was very similar in architecture to their Vancouver domestic. It was located on the top level of the terminal with sweeping vistas of the airside, the aesthetic was light and airy as opposed to the darker more conservative look of the MLL and it had a great selection of services, drinks and snacks. I loved the massage chairs tucked away into that almost-hidden corner by the showers.

The thing I loved the most about HNL and any of their lounges was the awesome smell of mildew. That and the little salamanders (?) and snails and other interesting little critters in the garden in front of the main lounges. Everytime I go down there I see alot of them squished -- gross. The HNL UA RCC is the only one I've frequented and I don't think much of it.

when I was in the JAL lounge at HNL there was a salamander (or whatever that thing is) actually in the lounge on a table. It scared quite of the few of the pax in there and as a result made the lounge seem very empty. Got a pic of it too

If you saw a salamander in the JAL lounge it was probably lunch trying to escape! :D

Cheers

Purrrnel,

Except, of course, if they're union supporters, socialists, or commie pinkos in which case they'll be unwelcome according to you. :D

Cheers

The walk is sooooo long. I keep on forgetting to factor in extra time every single time I go to that place. I always end up being called to the gate. Eeek.

They are all the same...no need to spell them out separately.
