Should We Start Using Code?

It seems anytime someone wants to be nice and offer up a voucher or two, the thread gets moved. Should we come us with some kind of code so no-one apart from AP folks know what we are talking about, and hence we can continue to offer them in this forum?

Luubert Feb 2, 2005 10:03 pm

"Thanks to the member who alerted me that this thread was more appropriately put in Coupon Connection (which is where I am moving it) in order to honor Randy's wishes."

Hmm...makes you think doesn't it.

Altaflyer Feb 2, 2005 10:04 pm

.....or just leave. The way things were hurt no one as we all knew it was really a Canadian forum - why the harsh approach? Not sure if we will enjoy being moderated - I am certainly no fan.

Luubert Feb 2, 2005 10:12 pm

If we were to tell Randy how this forum is truly "Canadian" and how generous we are with one and other I think he will understand. I'm not sure any of us are set to leave FT and the AC forum because of something like this. FT would be losing alot of great contributors thats for sure.

And why so bashful?- I'm sure we'd all like to thank, in our own particular way, that fine public-spirited member, who's contributing so much to the well-being of the community, so how about he/she steps forward to reveal their identity and receive what is so clearly their due reward???

I'm erring that way. The PM I sent on this matter still hasn't been read. The way I see it, there's a consensus amongst the users which those who make the rules are now blatantly ignoring.

The other option is of course to just discuss two completely disparate topics in the same thread - perhaps one looking at the latest Bombardier order whilst the other is offering up SWU's....

Excellent idea... just don't put "the topic of certs" into the title of the post.

FatBoyYVR Feb 3, 2005 3:29 am

Im pretty much done with FT. The final blow was that after all the reasoned dicsussion that was going on the mega-ego super-duper moderator still spent all that time finding the threads and moving them all. Must be so rewarding! Just disappointing really and I think it will mark the end of AC cert give aways on FT.
Luckily there are alternative places to do this.....

either that or put the "topic of certs" into the title of every post.

True!

or how about something like "Question about power ports in J, and I have 2 SWU's to give away!" :D (this was just an example)

I think he meant "methods" instead "places"?

Canucklehead Feb 3, 2005 6:58 am

We're mostly Canadian right, so

ce qui si nous parlons en français ? Les "moderateur" américains ne le comprendront pas ?

I think it could be done subliminally in posts throughout the AC forum It really....I have certs to trade.....is not all that hard.....Did you hear me I have certs to trade...to do if you really think about it. ;)

500 miles at a time Feb 3, 2005 7:11 am

Surely there must be an easier way?
Subliminal messages may be missd by some!
What about the french idea?
Unless you can think of another way?

There yet? Feb 3, 2005 7:19 am

...laughing...and wishing my French, &/or subliminal abilities were better!

Based on last night's posts, my timing is evidently awful, but I was hoping to trade two 2005 SWUs (which I admittedly haven't received yet from AP, but promise I will send) for two 2004 SSWUs (yes, the ones that expire at the end of this month).

Separate from that, if anyone can use 2004 SWUs, or NA certs, I have some free to a good home.

Please PM me for either/ both.

Tang"O".....CC is evil

ALW Feb 3, 2005 7:51 am

or...

we could just post our certificate exchange requests in CC (with a reference to CC here) until this is resolved.

Although it's frustrating that the moderation is being done in a heavy-handed way with no concern for our own idea of how it should be run, I will point out that neither of my clearly OT (but I hope of specific interest to Canadian flyers) threads, on Radisson and on Amazon, have been moved. It's only the coupon exchanges and the ad hominem remarks that have been squashed.

Leave FT if you want, but instead of finding complicated ways to discuss certs here, why not just go with the flow and post them elsewhere? I think you can still make a statement that you posted in CC.

=aw

500 miles at a time Feb 3, 2005 7:53 am

But that's not nearly as fun!!!

Maybe we could get a sticky updated with links to threads in the Coupon Connection?

ACORD Feb 3, 2005 8:02 am

I have 2 Milties and 1 Montie to give away

Why Not:

Milty = SSWU
Monty = SWU
Rupert = NAU
Fournel = MLL Pass
Shore9 = Duty Free Coupon

The Winger Feb 3, 2005 8:12 am

This is getting ridiculous. This is a BB for crypes sakes, does it really make the power hungry fools who get a title feel special when they move and close threads over a cert being given away? And what about the complainer, get a life.

People have been giving away/exchanging certs in good faith in this forum since I started coming to FT, all with no problems. Now we have mods who feel the need to enter our community and start stirring the pot. :rolleyes:

beaubo Feb 3, 2005 8:19 am

rolling paper- SSWUs
Vietnames Dong*- non-SE miles
soup kitchen- MLL pass

Exactly. Its not like the world (real or even FT) is going to descend into anarchy or something....

MapleLeaf Feb 3, 2005 8:55 am

Now since the mods are American, could it not be as simple as spelling our words the Canadian way. You know r before e, putting a u after an o? Surely that would confuse them, wouldn't it?

The mods remind me of chairmen and the executive of many a strata council or home owners association. So often these people have never had any authority or decision making power in their life, so they become the head honchos of the strata, and rule with an iron fist. It is their moment of glory and power they have been waiting for their entire life.
Now of course their are exceptions to this, such as our fine feathered friend who is the the mod of the CX forum.

Super Larry Feb 3, 2005 9:04 am

I think the message that needs to be transmited to RP is that we do know that there is several members of the FT community (Coupon Connection forum specially) that are out there just to put their hands on SWU, SSWU, etc.. and then go to eBay and sell them.

The thing I really like about the AC community is that most of the exchange (or give away) are done in very good faith. I'm not saying we don't have bad apple here (like the one who mentioned to a moderator that some coupon exchange was going on) but I think we do have showned a far superior sense of community than the Coupon Connection forum.

I know I can have a strong discussion/different point of view on something with someone and the next day I'll be (or he will) sending a SWU his/my way. The same is not true from others forums where it can get vey personal.

Maybe we just need to avoid the word exchange and start using give away instead...

My 2 cents...althougt I like the idea of communicating in French.. ;)

As part of the "university experience" shouldn't you at least be trying to pick up the language of the province where your school is located?
