I liked the " pets must remain in the kennel, under the seat, at all times." I hear last time the FA wanted my daughter to put it in the overhead bin. Until she categorically refused.

Well I thought the following on the first page would give you an idea?
Charges
For flights within Canada, the charge is $40CAD/$30USD per pet plus applicable taxes for one-way travel.
For Transborder flights, the charge is $110CAD/$75USD per pet plus applicable taxes for one-way travel.
For International flights (incl. Mexico) the charge is twice the excess baggage fee for the route plus applicable taxes for one way travel.
Contact Air Canada Reservations for details as some exceptions may apply.
Sorry - I guess that is for pets in the cargo hold ... I did not know there would be a charge for in-cabin pets ...

There is normally a "pet" mention on the boarding pass.
