Its probably someone else's FF points being used for the ticket... There are no published J fares for $2800.00 YVR-LHR with BA.

shore9 Nov 22, 2004 4:07 pm

well I got it from www.flyfirstforless.com. They said it's restrictive, and that it will earn zero miles. Perhaps it is on someone elses points. Is this legal? Not earning points is not a big deal, the key is to get the AMS is comfort and relatively cheaply.

Ask them about the booking class used in writing that ticket. If it is a U class booking then it is a mileage redemption in Club World on BA.
The booking code for full-fare Club is J. And C, D, I are the discounted variants of paid Club World tickets, each with different restrictions.

A $2800 J fare between YVR and LHR sounds way too cheap, especially on BA. Seat sales are sometimes offered and the airlines very occasionally make mistakes when entering fares into the reservation system, but I would proceed with caution. And you should already know that paying someone else to use their points is not legal (read your frequent flier programme rules). If you are found out, you will likely be charged the full J price for each return ticket.

I'd contact a reliable consolidator and ask for fares. If you don't know how to find one, pay a travel agent the usual booking fee to find one for you. You could well be better off booking J tickets right through to AMS.

Is this URL real, or did they run away scared at being included in this thread?

So, this appears to be a hoax, or the url is incorrect.

Out of curiosity I checked the following site for prices YVR-LHR in J. This site scans a variety of providers and collates the info.

It's definitely not illegal; there's nothing in the law books saying you can't do this. So go ahead and give it a shot if you want, then come back and report what happened.

FewMiles Nov 22, 2004 7:09 pm

Didn't someone say that he could get stuck there and then be forced to purchase a full-fare ticket to get back?

Oh wait...

Andrew Yiu Nov 22, 2004 7:10 pm

Remember that his question was whether this was illegal, definitely not illegal. It's completely legal since he isn't breaking any laws so that shouldn't be a reason why he shouldn't do it. Guess this answered his question.

Point taken, Empress. You have indeed answered the question. ^

FewMiles..

How about you answer this question , what exactly are you up to?

shore9 Nov 22, 2004 9:17 pm

Well the flight is for my parents, not me. I'm just trying to help them get there cheaply in J, as that's what they want. And I really don't want to see them get screwed over like that. Now how many here would take 2800 dollars for 85K AP miles, or 5600 dollars for 170K AP miles, this is only directed at SE's, as they'd have to use instant KK. I'm not asking anyone here to buy me 2 tickets using their miles, but out of curiosity, who would do that?
