763 Seating Types (?)

I'll be taking a 763 to Japan in C-Class next month. I've heard about different seating types, ranging from the big, old Canadian seats to more modern, but less comfortable Air Canada seats. Recently, some people have alluded to new generation seats being installed.

Can anybody briefly run through the types of seats currently flying on AC 763's?

Much thanks for your help.

I suggest you look at the "sticky" at the top of the thread listing which sets out to do exactly what you are asking for all aircraft in AC's fleet.

you are likely to get the ex-CP 763, don't hold your breath though.

If you are flying on AC 3/4 from YVR you will be on an ex-cp machiene, confligured 25/187. If you are travelling from YYZ on AC 1/2, you will be on a new AC machiene, configured 30/159.

Unfortunately, the sticky does not detail the specific types of seats installed on the ex-CP aircraft. I'm not talking about configuration - I'm talking about the actual seat technology.

From what I understand, AC has started to install new C-Class seats, replacing the comfy CP ones.

I don't think any of us are familiar with any recent seat renovations on the 763s. It looked like pre-CCAA that the gross plastic 321 seats were going to be the new J standard, but with what is going on the assorted RJs, that now looks less likely, I believe.

I think what's happening is that, the international config planes are getting the lie flat seats in J. and the the domestic/NA config planes are getting the new J seats that you see on the 319/321. So its either like them, are fly another airline.

Sorry I misread your initial post. However, the only aircraft currently featuring new seating are the two A345s. None of AC's older fleet have been reconfigured. The announcement was only made a couple of weeks ago that seating would be upgraded on longhaurl fleet, but this does not start until next summer at the earliest. And AC has decided the new ones on the A345s are not going to be the same as will be installed in the upgrade. I suspect AC may opt for the type VIRGIN ATLANTIC and AIR NEWZEALAND have opted for. But nobody is certain other than they won't be the same as these "new" ones.

actually if you search some of Empress's posts, it says that the plan is to install the hard J seats on the NA fleet, that being the 319/320/321 at least.
