Shiraz availability?
Well, just flew my normal YVR-YYZ route this week. I haven't flown this route since mid-Dec.
Anyways, there used to ALWAYS be Shiraz available in J. However, this week, none of the legs were offering it and only had a Cabernet Merlot.
Is this a supply problem or is AC getting rid of the Shiraz?

What about if with the change of the calendar year, AC also changed it's wine list? I'm not an expert by any means, but I would not think AC did it on purpose of p**** off customers

I had Shiraz on all four of my J flights three weeks ago between YYZ-YVR-NRT. It may be a provisioning issue for the given flight, or they may have run out of their stock. AC would likely go through a few dozen cases of each of its wines every day, and in those volumes any given variety will have to be restocked or replaced after a few months.

Thanks for the responses. I even asked the FA when they stopped stocking the Shiraz and if it was a distribution issue. Of course, she had no idea. (Not that I really expected her to.)

Shiraz was available on flights from YYZ to BGI and return last week and the week before.
Was told late last year by an IC that AC was clearing out it's wine cellar and that she never knew what she was getting until she opened the carts.

Hey Gang.
It depends on which Shiraz you are speaking of. This as it is different for transborder /domestic or for international.
The gryffon ridge one I understand is slowly becoming depleted and the distibutor is having a hard time keeping up.As for the other one that we get on international routes(the name I can't remember) we seem to have been getting it no problem. Another problem I understand from cara is that each station deals with its provincial regulatory body and if they don't have it ....we don't get it.
Are you all at least enjoying the wine selection?

The FA on my YYZ-YVR said many people has been asking for the Shiraz the last few weeks (they don't like the Merlot). She said she hasn't seen it for a few weeks and it's now down to 1 white + 1 red on domestic flights. She wasn't impressed about it!

Hey gang,
Got an answer. Spoke to a girl at the Cara YYC office. Aside from their station which still has a good stock of the Gryffon Ridge the other stations are slowly running out of stock. I think both YVR and YYZ have completely run out. To replace it they are using the Cabernet-Merlot by Chateau De Charmes. I haven't been able to taste it but those who like it like it a lot (sorry just had a Kieths....the motto gets in your head i guess)it is currently our Executive First service on overseas. I did let the girl know, on your collective behalf, that it was hoped that they would have replaced the gryffon ridge with another Shiraz. She said that she would pass the message along.
In hindsight I wish they had exchanged it with the Chilean one as it seems to be the more favoured of the two. As the stock is getting low perhaps it is time to get a new selection eh?
Something to look forward to.
