Changes to a ticket

I am currently have a U class ticket for Friday between YSJ and YYZ as follows:

YSJ-YHZ FT 7484 Class U
YHZ-YYZ FT 109 Class U-confirmed upgrade C

Is is possible to use the YSJ-YHZ portion on Thursday 11th afternoon by showing up and getting on the flight standy since it is a changeable ticket and still use the YHZ-YYZ portion on the 12th of December?

Or do these flights have to be taken in the same day as per my ticket?

Any help is appreciated.

If its a changeable ticket, why not call and change it...

Do the rules allow a stop over ?...anything over 4 hours is a stop over within Canada unless its a forced overnight due to no flightss..

If you really need to do the day before, call and change it...

Its the cleanest way...

Yes, even if the ticket is changeable, you probably are in for a re-fare. If you booked YSJ-YYZ, and the YHZ stop was originally booked as a mere 'connection', then you more than likely would owe additional fare.
(as this is an example of 'hidden city' ticketing).

If you examine carefully the AC tarrifs applicable to your ticket, AC's only obligation is to get you from YSJ to YYZ. Uncle Milton could even turn up in his private jet, personally pick you up at YSJ, and deliver you to YYZ if the airline wanted to, and they'd still be well within the contractual terms.

Anyways..give them a call, and be prepared to fork extra. On Latitude fare, it looks like approximately $200 w/taxes to re-fare.

Won't be possible. YHZ is a connection in this case and it will require re-faring the whole ticket. You can only standby for a same day flight, not a different day.

Empress, maybe time for a new, short FAQ, since you seem to post more eloquently than me. Defining a "through fare" as opposed to multi city?
