Problem with AC reservation system

Seems the AC system is down (the part used by telephone agents). Called to book some tickets and they can't do it. Was told it could be down all night. Web system is fine, but that doesnt help with trying to buy an H....

QIK-RES is down. Another sign of AC's aging reservation system.

they could save millions of dollars if they switched over to another system. Sabre/apollo you name it anything would be better. The Qik-Res system doesn't go down
very often. At least I have never heard of it going down in all my years working for the airline.

They are working on it, but the decision is being made in concert with all of the STAR carriers. It will be going to a common STAR platform.

The RES3 system is so old and out of date that the people they bought it from don't even use it anymore, BA.

First time I have seen this. I have seen it when RES3 is down and no-one can do anything, but never when all the web sites are ok, just the agents cant. It did come back up, but I had a nervous few hours as I was trying to book a H fare with one segment on a flight where there were not many seats left.....Worked out ok though, but could be improved without a doubt.

So now you could be nervous for a few weeks with those C0 flight. An aircraft switch to 762 here and there should do the trick.

They probably would have saved millions if they kept the CP system.

Actually, the Sabre system cost CP approx
350 million a year to operate so I do not see
any cost savings there. Yes it was efficient
like a Volvo but not cost efficient

That's because AMR charged CP a user fee for using the Sabre reservation system. It was a clever scheme designed to help AMR profit from their investment in the airline.
