Gate (Escort) Passes? (2023 onwards)

Friend had a gate pass last week (Ottawa) to escort an elderly lady to her flight. Lady is physically able but does have an early dementia so is not reliable to manage the airport experience.
Would be nice if the mobility. assistance works for this but it does not.
