AC Skytrax 2022 (spoiler:not good)

Things must be bad when even skytrax drops you .....

AC has dropped to #50
https://www.worldairlineawards.com/w...airlines-2022/

And to #5 in North America
https://www.worldairlineawards.com/b...022-by-region/

The only award AC won this year is Rouge in the best low cost in Canada category
https://www.worldairlineawards.com/a...-winners-2022/

Wonder if they will keep the (much inflated) 4* ranking...

Hmm. I hadn't noticed that Rouge was low cost. Low value, perhaps, but...

Meh

Rouge Y is the exact same as Mainline Y

Rouge J is the same as mainline J with a more limited menu. Honestly the difference between the two is so subtle...

edit: and the wifi is more consistent on Rouge than mainline, ironically enough.

AC really should be embarrassed.

BTW... Has AC decided if they will be adding doors in J? Delta, BA, Qatar already have them and AA just announced they will be introducing them.

If a 33% on time performance for 2 months in a row doesnt embarrass AC I doubt this one will.

I wonder if the new onboard announcements will now be "welcome to the #5 rated airline in the north america by skytrax"

Anyone who's flown a mile or two knows what a joke Skytrash is.

I'm sure most road warriors don't need some nonsensical website to tell them what's good or bad.

That's usually the narrative on this board when AC actually wins a few awards...but yet when AC does poorly, here we are.

How? Especially compared with JetBlue.

Isn't that the case with each and every ranking? If the ranking is in someones favour it is amazing and proof of the hard work, if the same company or organization does poorly, the ranking is trash, does not use the right metrics etc. etc.

As for AC indeed I do not need a ranking to know that the on-time performance is bad, the service has gone downhill, the food and drink selection is nothing to write home about and and and. Personally, I still fly AC on a regular basis but that is certainly not a result of their amazing service and product.

JD Power has had AC at the bottom for years.

And yes Skytrax is a joke (AC 4* lol).

Hardly. The now-infamous LH 5 star rating was greeted with bemusement in the LH forum.
Lufthansa 5-star certification from Skytrax [2017-22]

I don't think anyone here is defending AC's dismal offerings. The point is Skytrax has absolutely zero credibility among the frequent flyer community.

And the price between the two has always been virtually identical on routes where one may encounter both mainline and Rude service.

So who on earth thinks Rude is low cost?

To AC, perhaps. But to consumers? Not even by a penny. It's a lower level of service for the same money, and always has been.

#5 rating for AC in North American market is too generous. I have flown it many times in all classes and avoid it whenever I can.
