Different points cost for one-ways vs round trip/multi-city booking?

I am looking at yyj- lhr returning bcn- yyj.

I find lower points for business when I look at the return segment as a one way on my phone compared to a multi-city booking on the web.

Don't understand why?

Are you logged in when searching on the website? It defaults to "no", while the app will default to "yes" and thus apply any discount you're available for.

To clarify: are you seeing the difference between identical searches on the website vs app, or for multi-city vs one-way, or both?

I’m just about to pull the trigger for a flight to Europe this summer and found the same thing when I used the Cow Tool, 74K one way vs 100K as part of a return or multi-city.

Try a meaningful experiment and we might do an analysis.

well I am glad it usnt just me. Frustrating as the cost of cancellation doubles if I book as 2 singles.

I am searching for YUL- CUN on points in business. Is it normal that If I search a one way flight, as opposed to return trip , that the amount of points required differs?
I'm well aware of the dynamic prcing for redemption , I am just surprised to so the redemption amount change if I book two 0ne ways as oppossed to a single return trip.
I always book my travel as one way trips typically.
Can anyone confirm?

Can someone confirm that it is indeed the norm, to have different redemption levels of I book 2 one ways versus 1 roundtrip?

I doubt Aeroplan will confirm. Maybe it is a strategy to increase revenue by doubling the already high cancellation fee.
I have to say, I am not a fan at the moment. The huge increase in cost in business class redemptions is hard to swallow. Yes, I know I can fly from BC to Hawaii for less and there are more seats available but.....

I've seen itineraries where it's the same price either way. So it's not always the case. What do you consider to be "the norm"?
