Interesting. The first set of numbers I posted was actually from my wife's account. Mine are the same as yours.

Could also be they're doing some A-B testing to see which language is more effective? Or that they've already done some research and expect some of us to be more responsive to one or the other?

Oh so I actually am better off than the bonus people. Great. I'll net an extra 0 points out of this.

Do you have an immediate use for the points that will generate a value for them in excess of the cost of buying them? If so, it could be a good deal. But buying points just to sit on them, given they can be devalued at any time? Less so.

Do points purchased via this promotion count as EQDs on my Amex card? I’m considering buying some to get 25k status that way so I get bumped to 35k by the spend 10k promotion

Have a week to decide, could use the extra spend (non-travel so 1:1 ratio only) on my new reserve card!
Being Alberta-based I only have to pay the GST so at 110,000 plus the bonus of 88,000 that would be 198,000 AP points for $3,300 plus 5% so $3,465 for $0.0175 per point! If I use my US-based AMEX I can save the GST but then would have my expense in US dollars which I would need to re-acquire by buying US dollars, even without the FX fee, the CDN/US exchange is still too high for me.
