What's the best way to go about searching for what I need?

Min 1400 SQM
Min 700 SQD

I need a same day turnaround. I literally don't care where I go.

I'd look for a 500 mile round trip in J.

STEP ONE - IDENTIFY CLOSEST DESTINATIONS

https://www.freemaptools.com/radius-around-point.htm

Set radius to (1,400/2)= 700 for economy Flex, or (1,400/(2*1+5)) for business.

Saskatoon, Regina, SFO or Denver will do the job in Flex, or Edmonton in Business.

STEP TWO - PICK FLIGHTS

Go to Google Flights, enter origin and multiple destinations, pick a date you have available and set it for both origin and return.

Like this.

Then click around until you find a fare that's a bit higher than the AQD you need - remember, base fare counts but taxes don't - and click through to the AC purchase page to ensure that the base fare exceeds your required spending.

Step three - fly to Edmonton for lunch.

EDIT 2: this inspired me to flesh my answer out into more detail, which you'll find at the following website to which I contribute: https://www.flyermiles.ca/post/mileage-run-tips

I generally just do a GF search with no destination.

Hey AC people! Any idea on any cheap RTs out there before 12/31. I am thinking NYC - YYZ would always be pretty reasonable. But anything else come to mind. Especially to YYC, YVR or any good ski jumping off cities (and prefer the west snow of course to the east) - departure city doesn't matter.. Thanks!

Can you share what you find albeit you're based in a different part of the country now?

With that being said, very similar situation of wanting 1200 SQM; SQD already achieved. Frankly, with status being extended all I want is to cross another eUp threshold to position into 2022.

It looks like I'm going to finish the year with negligible SQM, 70SQS and about 10k SQD. Really close to 75k. If it would be any other year I wouldn't even ask and would be looking for a good segment run. But with SQx being transferred to next year, I'm not sure. Is it worth it? What extra would it bring to the table?

That's probably what I'd do.

In case I have serious complications, what 8800 SQM MR could I do? YYZ-somewhere-SFO could work. Or YYZ-somewhere-somewhere_fun_for_new_years.

I guess that's really only two YYZ-YVR round-trips, though I'm sure there's something cheaper or upgradeable. Maybe just do it all on UA.

Sigh... planning out these eventualities is not fun.

I'm going to be 566 miles short ot SE by Dec 31 with 4 flights to go this month . Do they offer any ability to purchase that? I really dont want to fly somewhere for lunch but feel I want to cross that threshold!

You could buy a UFP, but the cheapest option (AB Commuter) requires you to commit over $1,800 a month for 3 months. So, how much is it worth to you not to have to fly somewhere?

At 566 SQM short, they may comp it to you, but that's never guaranteed.

If your flights aren't already in J, you could call in and up-fare to business for the 150% class-of-service bonus.

Unless you're flying very short routes like YOW-YUL, this should make up at least 500 SQM.
Adam Smith and reggiekush like this.
