Also even if there wasn't a tail swap, planes are generally not going to be left at any gate for 10 hours between flights, whether that be the arriving or departing gate. They will be towed to parking somewhere else on the airfield to allow the gates to be used for other flights and then towed back.

These kinds of delays are infuriating because they appear to be completely within AC’s control.
