Flying on December 31st, will I qualify for 50K in 2020?

I have 30k of AQM at this moment, and I won't be flying until December 31st, when I will earn 20k of AQM from my trip to Taiwan. Will I qualify for Altitude 50K in 2020, if these miles get credited after New Year's Day?

Miles are based on date flown, not credited. You’ll earn your status.

But, 20k miles in a single day? Something doesn’t add up... How are you doing this?

I don’t know how you will manage to get 20K AQM on one leg but if all individual segments of your leg to Taiwan depart on December 31st or before, you’ll get it. If one of the flight departs on January 1st on the land of departure, this particular flight will count toward the following year.

What’s you itinerary?

You’ll be fine unless major IRROPS on your return leg.

Just make sure you get the AQD as well!

Last year a Dec. 31 flight put me over the 100k needed for SE status.

Last year I few on December 31st. PVR - YYZ - YOW.

The YYZ - YOW flight was cancelled and I was put on the first flight of 2019 (00:10) - so that credited to 2019. However, an email to Aeroplan solved that are they moved the miles back to 2018.

I'm only saying that in the event that you have IRROPS you do have some recourse to request the miles to be credited back to the previous year.
