Rule Against Backtracking on Award (no duplicate airport)?
As the title states, is there a specific rule against backtracking geographically on a one way award, not using same airports?
I've found the following as pieced together:
JNB-SIN-PEK-ORD-SFO. MPM works out (just barely, within ~50 miles)

There's no geographical backtracking rule. The actual backtracking rule is that you can't pass through the same airport twice on a one-way award, or on the same side of the point of turnaround on a round-trip award.

Got it, thanks.
is there any leniency when it comes to MPM or is it a hard stop? I found a route a few weeks ago (can't recall exactly what it was) but I remember it being 4 miles over MPM JNB-LAX.

Its a hard rule. But you never know what calculator is being used. There was a thread a way back how AC shortens people by a couple/dozen miles on some routes
