Question Unable to add Aeroplan number to Lufthansa booking online

On December 4th, 2018 I purchased Lufthansa flights for 15 June 2019 and 22 July 2019. When filling out the order at Lufthansa's website, Aeroplan was no longer offered as a frequent flyer option. How should I proceed? I fly about the same distances with Air Canada and with Lufthansa. Should I join Miles & More? Will Air Canada remain a member of Star Alliance? If yes, will the new loyalty program of Air Canada credit Lufthansa miles as Aeroplan did? What is the fastest way for me to stay informed? Thank you.

This is a known bug with the LH website and apps. It has been reported to LH, certainly by me, but I don’t know what the workaround is, short of calling in. I was flying business class so it didn’t matter to me, and I entered my Aeroplan number at the airport. I’m sure others will pitch in.

As mentioned, at the airport, before boarding or in the lounge, make sure the agent enters your Aeroplan number. Has happened to me too.

Is this something the AC agent can do when I check in at the airport? (AC-AC-EN flights). I am already assuming the AC agent won't be able to give me a BP for the Air Dolimiti flight since they can never give me a EW BP, but I'm hoping they can add my Aeroplan number to the booking? I have a super tight connection in FRA and there's no way I can stop and talk to an agent before boarding the EN flight.

I don't know why AE/AC isn't an option on the LH website but what can you do?

This has only been an issue for me with flights purchased through LH. When the flight has been purchased through AC, I've entered my Aeroplan number with AC and it has showed up fine with LH, flights have credited automatically, etc.

Usually true for me also. Just noticed when I went to do seat selection at LH though that my FF program slot was empty and then there was no AE option. I guess we'll wait and see. I know I could get credited after the fact but I want to make sure to have *G privileges for the EN flights.

Not necessarily. I had AC change a LH segment on a 014 ticket to an earlier LH flight and nothing came over - no Altitude number, no *G, nothing. Had to get the LH agent at Check-in to enter the info.

You won’t get *G on EN regardless. They are not start alliance and it doesn’t matter than they are owned by LH. Have flown Eurowings several times and no benefits and severely reduced mileage accumulation.

I know that to be true for EW which I end up flying about 6 times a year. Sucks.

I was duped by the star alliance logo on my booking. Oh well, short flights. I'll be fine.

Have you actually flown EN, or are you just extrapolating your EW experience to EN? Because your comment is contradicted by information shared by some posters who have flown EN recently.

The EN website also indicates that *G gets you one additional piece of checked baggage and lounge access at Italian airports.

@WaytoomuchEurope don't you remember asking about EN accumulation in that thread recently?

Not EN....but for an EW flight this week, at the boarding gate, I actually asked the gate agent to check if my Aeroplan number was in the system. He had to change the screen and look it up. It held up the line for a minute or so, but he was OK to do it when I explained that it was easier to ask him to do it than to chase the miles after the fact. Although you're on a tight connection, asking right at the gate (at boarding), will ensure you do not miss your flight. I have checked and the miles have already posted to my Altitude dashboard!

You're right Adam. Another daily reminder that I'm an idiot. Mea culpa.

Why Lufthansa does not allow Aeroplan entry?

Sorry for posting to Air Canada/Aeroplan forum, but checking if you folks have experienced this: Whenever I made booking in Lufthansa website, I was never able to add Air Canada's Aeroplan number to the passenger profile under "adding frequent flyer's number". Air Canada's Aeroplan is just not on their FF list to be selected.

This is the screenshot of Lufthansa website, and Aeroplan is not there.

Anyone has this experience?

Thanks

@WaytoomuchEurope, just saw this now, but wasn't implying that you were an idiot, rather that perhaps you were suffering from some travel-induced amnesia
