FlyerTalk Forums Expert How-Tos and Guides
Last edit by: tcook052
This new annual thread has been carved out of the previous thread in an effort to reduce the number of megathreads on the AC forum. For those interested previous versions are the original 2004 - 2014 thread , 2015 edition, 2016 edition , 2017 edition and 2018 edition.

The original thread started by accident but quickly became a popular place to come and discuss off topic things such as hockey, new movies, or almost anything that wouldn't fit into existing AC forum threads. Air Canada or Aeroplan topics such as flight feedback, in-flight services issues, status or mileage earning/redemption are all topics that should go into existing AC forum threads so others can benefit from this information. Topics about hotels or airlines and/or their loyalty programs, destinations, in-flight travel tech. or anything best discussed elsewhere on FT may be relocated to that forum as this thread isn't meant to import travel topics to this forum that are better discussed on other forums. FT is an amazingly diverse and large community so members are encouraged to seek out all of its resources.

While the conversation is more relaxed as it would be in a lounge that doesn't mean however that the FT rules don't apply here as they definitely do so please refrain from controversial topics such as politics or religion, avoid profanities and treat other lounge patrons with the same respect you expect.

Oh my bottle of Ardbeg
@yyznomad, stop imbibing, I begged!
Oh my bottle of Bowmore
Dram after dram, he wanted more!

Oh my bottle of Laphroaig
He soaked it all in the house of a Québécois frog!
Oh my bottle of Macallan,
Unlike a 787, he doesn't get many miles per gallon!

Oh my bottle of Port Charlotte
For sure, he drank a lot!
Oh my bottle of Bruichladdich
Likely he ended up sleeping in a ditch!

Oh my bottle of Lagavulin
I hope he brought some Aspirin!
Oh my bottle of Oban
From my house, he might now be banned!

Oh my bottle of Champagne
@DNAwizard and his friend Laurent Perrier didn't complain!
Oh my stash of Kit Kat
@24left ate them all and tried to blame the cat!

Just be interested - is that a personal photo, or from your relation who lives downtown? Or ...?

From all indications I'm hearing it's even crazier than expected.

Yes, that's what I'm hearing too.

My daughter is downtown right now - but that picture is just one that I downloaded from the interwebs, as it has a better perspective than just being in the middle of the crowd.

Yeah, seen a few pictures out of high rise building windows. Looks like Rockefeller Center at Xmas.

Downtown TO is a zoo, thankfully the PATH exists as there is no way to cross the parade route at street level.

Glad that I stayed away from that area. I have a few friends who live along Queen/Richmond/Adelaide, will ask them to see if everything is ok lol.

There are times when I really like the simplicity of the Linux command line. I need to copy an SD Card. The options for Windows involve installing a disk imaging program from sourceforge or using a demo of some commercial product. In Linux I turn to trusty old dd and I'm off to the races.

Oh, Dataset Definition. One of the few historical UNIX commands with at connection to the IBM world.

Or, as it's more commonly known as: Disk Destroyer.

TTC has closed three stations at street level as well. I mean TTC is at breaking point on a normal day so I’m sure this surprises no one.

I get it’s busy but if the route has been cleared odd they didn’t make it on time. I mean, it’s a bus, surely they mapped out the route and told that driver at what speed to go?

Still I guess people are enjoying it and weather isn’t too bad.

Two people shot at the parade: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toron...ting-1.5178886

I guess I’m glad I ultimately decided to stay at YYZ and have some beers with some illustrious FTers.

Argh. Sounds like it’s been updated to four victims too now. None life threatening, don’t know why or what happened though.

You could copy \\.\diskn foo.dd or learn some powershell. I wouldn't say if of bs count skip are super intuitive, albeit what I grew up with....

Also the Linux kernel is being embedded in win10 as of wsl2. Something like that... OS is just a tool.

Edit: I could learn how to reply properly too... Ugh... Mind is elsewhere
