Iceland's WOW air sells four A321ceo to Air Canada
WOW air (WW, Reykjavik Keflavik) says it has signed a sale and purchase agreement with Air Canada (AC, Montréal Trudeau) involving four A321ceo that the Icelandic carrier has had on finance lease since 2014. Deliveries will be effected in January 2019.
According to the ch-aviation fleets module, the four aircraft are msn 6232, 6210 (currently wet-leased to Aruba Airlines (AG, Aruba)), 5733, and 5681.
WOW air said in a statement the sale is part of its ongoing restructuring plan which will see its fleet being reduced from twenty to eleven narrowbody aircraft.
Aside from the aforementioned A321-200s, WOW air has thus far returned two A320-200s and two A330-300s to their lessors with one outstanding A330-300, TF-GAY (msn 1098), still in service.
Once the disposal is completed, WOW air's fleet will entail one A320neo, eight A321ceo, and two A321neo all of which are leased from third-party firms

Interesting that AC is buying more 321s even as the 7M8 rollout continues. I wonder whether they're destined for mainline or rouge.

From another forum, they’re going to rouge. RV was scheduled to receive mainline A320s, these could be instead of those. Also interested that AC is deferring the 7M9 while taking more A321s. Starting to wonder if they’ll ever fly those.

Would make sense for the A320 to remain at mainline. Rouge currently does not fly the 320, if they get more A321 no need to introduce a new configuration at Rouge.

I heard AC is not that happy with the operational numbers of the 7M8 so far and this is why they pushed back delivery of the 7M9. Maybe AC is changing there mind on the 7M9 and keep flying the A321 instead.

Gosh I hope so. Here is hoping that some combination of 220 and 320/1 compose the single aisle fleet, not the awful 7M8/9.

I think Air Canada is delaying the 7M9 as they have sufficient capacity with their 7M8 and A321 fleet. The A321 should not need replacement for another decade. Why add a variant if they don’t really need it? In 5-10 years, Air Canada can choose between the A321neo, Max9, Max10, or 797.
Don’t forget, the 7M8 already provides the airline a capacity increase vs the A320. As they still operate a fleet of A319 and A321 aircraft (and eventually A320s) at Rouge, operating a sub-fleet of A321ceo at AC mainline should not be an issue.

The only thing I have heard was how pleased the airline was with their fuel efficiency.
I think Air Canada is delaying the 7M9 as they have sufficient capacity with their 7M8 and A321 fleet. The A321 should not need replacement for another decade. Why add a variant if they don’t really need it? In 5-10 years, Air Canada can choose between the A321neo, Max9, Max10, or 797.
Don’t forget, the 7M8 already provides the airline a capacity increase vs the A320. As they still operate a fleet of A319 and A321 aircraft (and eventually A320s) at Rouge, operating a sub-fleet of A321ceo at AC mainline should not be an issue.
AC pilots I have talk to, say the 7M8 fuel burn has been higher than what Boeing advertised.

Boeing has convinced airlines to buy over 2,500 of the 7M8 while at the same time only selling 136 of the 7M9 with 11 of them going to AC.. Without knowing any of the details it is clear the 7M9 is a lost cause. They will probably keep delaying the 7M9 until Boeing has something else they can move those deposits to.
This is from Feb 2018 (and Lion Air didn't lose a frame at that point). Some interesting comments about how UA had already converted orders
