Newbie question about Aeroplan points redemption

Firstly, apologies for the newbie question. My first time attempting to redeem Aeroplan points.

Looking at an economy round trip flight Toronto to Orlando. I expect that to be a fixed mileage of 25,000 points as per the rewards chart. The fixed mileage options on the Aeroplan site all list 50,000 points plus taxes.

What am I missing?

I'm guessing you're probably searching for two seats. It shows the total points for however many seats searched for, instead of points for each seat.

Makes me do a double-take once in a while, too.

Or it is a priority reward?

Pretty sure it is a single passenger. I've attached the image, shows one passenger.

As I suspected, it's Priority. At twice the mileage. The picture shows (left side).

I think I understand what is happening. It is showing priority rewards because there are no flights available on that day.

If I attempt to turn off priority rewards, it refreshes with the same results with priority rewards enabled again.

That's indeed what happens when there is no regular inventory availability.

Is this new to Aeroplan? I don't think I've noticed a Priority Reward before, or perhaps I never paid attention.

Status-dependent. For SEs there are priority rewards at no additional miles. Lower status, 100% extra. No status, no such a thing.

yes, first time I've seen market fare less than fixed! Something indeed amiss at Aimia.

That's good to know! I have no status so I won't see any difference. It must be really nice to be SE - you get access to unsold seats and YQ's are waived on AC.

*Some* unsold seats. Not all of them any more. Has been like that for quite a few years by now.

It's actually not that uncommon. I've actually seen them at less than 25K for a roundtrip. Plus the taxes and fees are generally less.
