$200 fee for latitude

Had to cancel an international latitude fare and didn't get the usual automatic refund email. Looked at my pdf and it said $200/person fee for cancellations even though economy latitude. At time of booking and still on website it says latitude is fully refundable. What gives?

I recently checked on a latitude fare. I found discrepant information with the fare conditions mentioning a $200 fee. But when looking at detailed fare rules there was no change fee.

Having had similar issues a long time ago (probably at least five years ago) I was not overly surprised. In the past in this sort of situation I always was able to talk them into going by the rule most favorable to me.

Looks like this happens when they automatically put you in a business class segment despite a latitude booking. A sneaky way for ac to tack on scam charges? Wouldn't be beyond them.

Doesn't this also happen if you mix a Latitude & Flex fare? i.e. most restrictive policy applies?

Problem is with AC IT as usual. Nowhere in the booking process does it say it's not refundable.

"Refundable" and "Refundable at no cost" are not the same thing, but are both "refundable". Tango fares are not refundable at all. You can only get a travel credit. It sounds like you are definitely able to get cash back.

Either way, I'd call and talk to someone.

Hugely different price for overseas itineraries.

BTW there is no indication that this (one direction latitude, the other flex or tango) was the OP's problem.

I believe in AC's effort to "simplify" fares which has gone badly awry since being launched, some Latitude fares have more recently had fees attached to them despite Latitude being promoted as the cancel/change anytime justification for the ridiculously ovepriced ticket..

Not really new, if indeed true. For the longest time there were Germany-Canada-Germany latitude with change fee. Until a few years ago. Together with conflicting information on aircanada.com. But yes, it looks like they are back.

So much for consistency. as a judge once told me, "foolish consistency." Nice way to dismiss inconsistency actually.

Simple solution: my AQD is still stuck at 3 figures.
