Did they cut the commercials from the inflight entertainment in J?

just came back from Hong Kong. Noticed that the entertainment unit did not have any commercials prior to the movies. I watched five movies and there were no commercials at the beginning. Is this a new development?

IME it depends the content. Some have ads, some don't. I think all the TV shows definitely have the ads.

even if the commercials go away most are permanently and unfortunately etched into memory...

I am yellow today, I shine my light out like the sun
I am blue today calm as glass and cool like the sea
I'm rainbow today all the colors of the world are in me

Thank you. I don't think the ads have captions, so it is nice to know what the narrator was saying!

On flights to/from Sydney last week. No commercials on movies or TV shows. Was really nice.

Four TATLs in the past month. My observations are that commercials are fewer prior to films, and often not there at all for TV shows. And when they are present, you can fastforward through them.

On all my flights this year, there have been ads. The recent ones (this past weekend) were narrow-bodies, but even the 789s a month ago had ads everywhere.

perhaps advertisers don't want to be associated with the Air Canada brand?
