T-6ish in AUH. The party at the PH has started, and our villa is shaking from the bass.

I’d just like to lodge an official compliant from here at the centre of the Universe that this thread is already live  :D

Happy New Year to all, regardless of location :)

Am I allowed to post in this thread if it's 2017 where I am? Or is that OT?

it's not OT if you're somewhere over Winnipeg.

Presu ably that's where you are. Otherwise not kosher I guess.

Following up to this thread...

@SparseFlyer: Were you looking for my opinion of the LX E Gates Lounge at ZRH? If so, 10/10 for a J/*G lounge! :)

@yyznomad: Actually, I'm not a huge fan of the TK IST Lounge. Granted, it's massive. But I've always found its aesthetics lacking, often quite crowded, and not great for privacy.

SKYEG Dec 31, 2017 3:26 pm

The only subject(s) that is/are not allowed in the Forum Lounge thread for this board is anything Air Canada, or anything that is the subject(s) of any other subforum of Flyertalk.

So, yes, you are, especially since the 2017 forum lounge thread is now locked.

Kinda bummed that Mariah Carey isn’t totally bombing her re-appearance on Rockin’ New Year’s Eve...

Happy new year y’all

I saw a bit of that. Is she immune to the cold or can we expect a news article about her being admitted for hypothermia from the CBC? Seriously it’s -20c here before the wind kicks in and can’t be much better in NYC.

It's now 2018 here so I can properly wish a Happy New Year to all.

SKYEG Jan 1, 2018 9:50 am

Happy New Year to the AC FT family!!!

Hope everyone finds some killer YQ free mini-RTW routings and can burn through most your E-Ups this year!!!

It's good to be back to the dark side... ;)

I had gone back to school after a few years of "work". I have to admit I really enjoyed going back to school. I got all my assignments done early and stayed on top of my studies. It was like righting the wrongs of all the procrastination of my first go around through school.

I was also studying abroad and learned about FT during that time. :D

It's a waste if you're in business (exception: HYPS MBA)

That television show is absolutely draining to watch.

Having just flown ZRH-IST-YUL I had the opportunity to compare both IST and ZRH lounges side by side. :D

The IST lounge was crowded, hot and sweaty and yes the food is nice and diverse but I'm not quite sure it's living up to the hype anymore. On a previous trip, I tried the sleeping rooms downstairs and while the idea is nice, the soundproofing is terrible and they are located right next to the kitchen, making it real hard to get decent sleep. Plus transit security at IST can be a real sh*t show, significantly reducing my urge to transit there in the near future.

On the other hand, ZRH is clean, organized, efficient and the new E-gates lounges are impressive, including the kitchen, work areas and extensive bar. I would agree with your 10/10 assessment. ^

I agree. I avoid the IST J lounge and much prefer the premium plaza lounges. I hate people and overcrowding. Perhaps it was a case of being overhyped but my last encounter at the IST J lounge left me with a thought of "what are people going on about" after I spent no more than 5 minutes there.

I wish Joe Bowen someday returns to play-by-play TV commentating for the Leafs, and not just on LeafsTV.

I'm not nearly as well traveled as many on here (including you :D), but probably one of the LH Senator Lounges at FRA or MUC (there are so many and are so consistent, I have a hard time keeping them all straight). While LH's lounge food offerings for lunch / dinner aren't the most extensive, I love their breakfasts (especially the Bircher Müsli) and clean, airy design.

A SQ SilverKris Lounge (likely at SIN) probably rounds out the top 3. SQ has better food, but my impression (admittedly from a few years ago) is that they tend to be quite dark and foreboding.

What's your top 3?
