Is eUpgrade based on segment or reservation?

Newbie question : say I fly from YVR - DFW, but route through YYZ, do I have to pay 10 credits for YVR-YYZ, then another 10 credits for YYZ-DFW?

How would it work if I upgrade to PE on 1 leg, and J for the other leg ( due to plane configuration there's no PE seat on the 2nd leg )?

Thanks

https://www.aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/...s/request.html

You can request an upgrade for an entire one-way itinerary, or choose to upgrade only certain flight segments.

If you try and upgrade the entire itinirary, they will discount it to what it would be for the the point-to-point cost. Indeed, the estimate tool doesn't consider connections, you would have to run it per segment to break it down like that. https://services.aircanada.com/eupgw...ice/eupgrade/#

I have no experience with PE upgrades, or half upgrades. Sorry.

That's what I thought too, but few months ago I flew LAS-YVR via YYC and did eUpgrade on both segments. It shows 6 credit for my second segment until I hit confirm, then it changed into 0 credit.

Today I came across point 2 of T&C -> aircanada.com/ca/en/aco/home/altitude/eupgrades/terms-and-conditions.html
eUpgrade Credits are calculated based the requested eUpgrade cabin (Business Class, Premium Economy or Premium Rouge) on one-way travel from origin to destination on a single reservation, including connections.
which explains why I get 0 credit on my last LAS trip.

Or was this a gift from AC IT gitch?

At least recently the tool has been showing the per segment and correct total cost, highlighting it as a discount.
