Question for the Experts

I have an Air Canada flight from LHR to EWR, with a stopover (2 hours) in YYZ. As it turns out, it is more convenient for me to get off the plane in YYZ, and ditch the EWR connection. I will not be checking any luggage. Can anyone see any problems with doing this? Many thanks in advance for any thoughts on this. Q.

Is YYZ-EWR the last segment of your ticket? If so, just tell the LHR agent to check you in to YYZ only. You'll be fine.

That's called 'throwaway ticketing' but if you don't do it often, AC doesn't care.

You have to clear Canada customs in YYZ before pre-clearing to the US. Even if you checked luggage you would still have to pick up your luggage from LHR before pre-clearing.

If you are using the first part of a discounted roundtrip and were planning to use the return from EWR, this might create problems with AC. If it's the return or just a o/w you should be fine.

Thanks Empress and Tracon. Yes, Empress, it is the last segment of the ticket. Cheers, Q.
