Out of food in business class

Hi
My first post here

A few weeks ago I took a flight from Vancouver to Taipei . It is a 12 hour flight
Last meal upon landing they were out of food. I wanted something with meat, they were all out of it

Is it normal that they don't carry enough food ?

This is business class. I paid full fare for it.

The flight attendants were pretty much useless and didn't apologize or anything

Anyone encounter similiar situations???

Given some recent comments about stuff served in j class this might be considered an improvement.

They were out of food, or they were out of the meat option?

Those are two VERY different scenarios.

In the former, I'd expect a green form to be filled out before landing.

If the latter, I'd probably just write into customer service, but I'm not even convinced you'd get a 5% code.

I've been unable to get my first choice on DL and UA in the past few months in paid front-cabin, so it happens everywhere.

As SE, I can't say it happens to me on AC, but I have no doubt it's a common occurrence.

Also, "full fare" almost certainly does not mean what you think it means.

Let's say the OP were on a "full fare" ticket. Does that change what you wrote?

A galley has finite space, and regrettably there are not unlimited options and guaranteed choice on any airline. Besides space constraints, provisioning is also based on consumption patterns and can vary greatly from flight to flight. On a recent inbound TPAC flight (29J Customers) there was an entire cake untouched from dinner, substantial leftover cheese, ice cream, barely touched snack and fruit baskets, requests by only 4 Customers for mid-flight snacks and breakfast declined by 6.

(Granted this was not a ravenous group).

I'm guessing the brunch options on the OP's flight consisted of omelette, congee and some type of stir-fry.

Why, oh why, does AC not allow preordering food for J class on line.

Passengers say what they want, and the airlines wins by not having to carry an excess of meals.

Please, pretty please, don't ask for it. Can you imagine the disaster this would turn into? Read that other thread, they are not even capable of charging GST/HST right to folks who live abroad. Pre-ordering food is beyond their capability.

This only happens on AC. My brother & family were in Prem Y and they were told the same thing their choice not available, how odd, because they would have started serving the Premium Y passengers before the Y passengers.

Birthday cake? I know they used to bake cookies but are they baking cakes now too? 🤓

too many people accept without getting good reasonable compensation, as J/F fares can cost a lot of money, or a lot of miles

can happen on most, if not all, including CX (report on FT)

That's presumably because for main dishes PY gets the leftovers from J, not Y food? Increasing the odds of some choices running out actually.

Or literally run out of food on EY First according to a prominent blogger.

Yes but if you are a full fare paying passenger you expect to be fed and treated with class. Oh I forget, AC lacks any class. My brother scolded me for recommending AC and vowed never to fly AC again.

Not getting your first choice does not equate with "not being fed."

I don't think the PY mains are the same at the J mains. They seem quite different based on pictures, granted I haven't actually flown PY yet.
