Seat availability - when are the empty one's released?

Flying on AC to HKG later this week. Tango and Flex seat maps show very few seats, while Latitude has lots of good seats available. If those seats aren't sold, do they become available at 24 hours before the flight? Looking to move up to the front.

There are probably many people who have not purchased a designated seat. They don't know any better, as they purchased the ticket from a travel agent or an OTA. The flights to HKG have some of the highest load factors, so you I would expect that there are bums for the seats.

The seats you see blocked on flex and Tango are "priority seats" (not preferred). These seats are reserved for Altitude members and Latitude pax. They will be released at OLCI.
