YYZ AC Delays - Runway Construction - April 7 2017

Those who've been through YYZ recently, know this.

For those who check FT headlines.......

"$30M runway construction at Pearson airport leads to ground delays"

And on AC.com

So the repairs continue until June 1st but AC will only let you rebook on one day? Seems fair.

I thought the same thing. However, works for me, as I was able to rebook a connecting flight for tomorrow that would have cost me previously.

Significant number of YYZ/YSB cancellations, as well as the surrounding "feeder' stations. A fella I know going ORD/YYZ/YYB had a 5 hour day go to 12 hours from start to finish this past week due to runway issues at YYZ. Inbound to YYZ cancelled and was re-booked and cnx cancelled and was re-booked and that left 1 hour behind schedule.

I wonder if AC is happy with the planning and contingency plans put in place for YYZ...

Maybe AC can fill out an online form on torontopearson.com and get a 15% voucher for their next contract renewal (applicable on base fare only).

I re-routed both YOW-SFO and SFO-YOW though Mintreal this week to avoid YYZ.

I was ticketed through YYZ, but made both changes on the day of travel.

I was told that the construction for now is scheduled to be completed by May 16.

And then will restart again in October and run into mid-to-end of Nivember.

I will check the planned end date when I get back to work tonight. I believe it's 3 phases. Phase 1 ends mid April (first 1/3 of 05 closed), then middle 1/3 closes till mid May (which also causes grief to the 33s). Finally the last 1/3 gets done in the fall.

All the applicable aerodrome NOTAMs for the runway/taxiway construction are valid through April 24th, with various aids to navigation affected until mid-May.

That may be the case, but they will probably be applying for an extension.

The YYZ airport authority was specifically quoted on the news saying that disruptions will likely last until June 1st.

Would be great if they extended their advisory and allowed changes at least a few weeks in advance.
I have a flight connecting in YYZ in just over a week that I would change to YUL if they'd let me.

It certainly would, wouldn't it?

Which is why I am pointing out how long the delays could go on for--any airline (not just AC) operating out of YYZ needs to be more accommodating. The whole thing has been very disruptive.

If AC has to cancel due to this, who is responsible to accommodate the pax?
