Let's give them a bit of a break on this... I'm just impressed with how creative they are in finding new revenue. They've identified things customers want, and provided ways for us to give them money. So, the tool is in place, potentially successful, and now they can add tweaks to maximize.
Status buy-ups weren't even original when some idiot posted this:

Apparently FT is using the same IT service as AC. So let's try again...
Not that creative.

In fact, I think that pretty much everything that AC has ever considered charging for was "invented" by someone else.
AC is just more able to inflict those charges due to the lack of competition in Canada.

We just got an invitation for 25k, after finishing at around 21k+ and around $4k in AQD.
But the thing is we already booked a bunch of flights in Tango for all of our travel till October before we got swept in this second round. Status would have been valuable for 1/2 of the E-W connector pass, which would have been questionable anyway because the other 1/2 would be flown in Y for $1k RT.
oh well, perhaps not worth it anyway.

Yes, that is what I was looking for in my case. Instead, got the congrats 50K email, and I thought if I ignored it, maybe I'd get the buy up offer, but have since received package in the mail.
Was 75K last year. One less EU trip made the difference.

Hmmm odd, you’re in the 80-85% range they seem to offer from but as always, no guarantees beyond flying the miles.
I guess AC doesn’t want to guanatee offers, otherwise people will start treating as as fly 64k and pay up. A 10k AQM run is likely > $1k buy up unless you can find one of those crazy $800 YYZ FRA RTs.
Out of interest, which part of E75 is worth the pay up to you? Gifting?

Gifting to the Mr. is nice as he sometimes flies to meet me or goes home earlier. But mainly the extra eUps and extra days on the eUp window because I have a high rouge exposure.

Again I was offered P25K for $399. Finished 2017 with $4,500 AQD and 23.2K AQM (was E35). Of course I declined, I don't even consider the value of P25K status to be worth $400. Given my spend for the year, I would have thought AC would want to encourage me to keep status with them. Given the ease of upgrading to Plus on WS I'll actually save money purchasing the cheapest WS fare and upgrading to Plus at check in vs. buying flex fares on AC and upgrading only some of the time.

i started with a new firm and have accumulated a lot of segments (looks like I will finish the year with 23) and 14k AQMs and 10k AQDs. Looking for suggestions on how I should proceed.
1) wait for a possible offer from AC to upgrade status (if offered for 2019)?
2) suggestions on a cheap flight out of YYZ before year end to gain the 2 remaining segments to qualify for 25K for 2019? Welcome all suggestions and thoughts
glad and to be back up in the air and part of the forum again
Thanks

1. Go somewhere for a weekend getaway - depart Saturday, return Sunday one night in hotel. From YYZ there's no end of choices - YOW, YUL, YQB for Canada, NYC, WAS, ORD should all be available for a few hundred bucks.
2. If you want to be mroe ambitious, book YYZ-YVR-HKG in PE - go for dinner in Hong Kong and come back with E35K.
