UPDATE: Air Canada Passengers no longer Get United Polaris Lounge Access

http://thepointsguy.com/2016/12/air-...olaris-lounge/

United’s Polaris Lounge is easily the best US airline-operated lounge in the world, so naturally it’s a hot ticket for frequent flyers. Unfortunately, access is quite limited — you’ll need to be flying United Polaris or business or first class on a Star Alliance airline to get in. Yesterday, we learned that only long-haul passengers are eligible, but that actually only applies to flights operated by United itself. If you’re flying a partner — Air Canada, for example — any business or first-class ticket will do.

Cool - I presume we need to be actually flying J on AC. Anyway, an interesting option from a number of US gateways.

Of course AC's flights at ORD depart from a pier quite far from the Polaris lounge so hardly convenient. This may be better when the SFO Polaris lounge is finished as AC flights depart from gates close to that lounge. That said, is there any concrete evidence that an AC flier on a J transborder ticket has been granted access? All other STAR partners flying from the US operate long haul flights. Let's wait for someone to be denied entry to see how this definition applies in AC's case.

Look, I don't care if UA has created some fancy schmancy lounge or not. I just have one question: will I still be able to get the full selection of pickles I've come to know and love from my MLL visits? If I can't get my vinegar salt pickle fix, I'm not going to bother.

AC provides lounge access to anyone holding a J ticket on all its domestic, transborder and international routes/flights, so STAR status doesn't matter. However, this is a commercial arrangement AC would have with UA in this case (other STAR and private lounge operators), and that agreement would specify which lounge. For example, those flying AC in J ex-MUC would use the LH business lounge, whereas those flying AC in J but also holding STARGold would have access to the Senator lounge.

Why would you even expect it to not be true?

That's like saying "I hope UA*G traveling in UA F aren't allowed in the MLL". It makes no sense.

I am going to make a wild guess and think rankourururabouru believes it to be unfair that AC*G will get Polaris lounge access on US Domestic travel, but not UA*G?

How is this different from before? A AC*G has been able to get UA lounge access domestically in the US. I don't know why this Polaris nonsense is news.

AC*G won't get access though. It's a business class lounge. Business class gets access.

And per *A rules, only international business class.

I am trying to locate the Thread in UA Forum. I recall seeing for Polaris Lounge Canada is not designated International. *A carrier between USA & Canada in J or F will not get access I recall reading.
