Understanding air canada altitude status

Hello experts,

I am looking at my AQS chart in the "my altitude".

The top circle shows 4 completed of 25. for AQS

why is my balance showing at the bottom 8
Total AQS required for next status
21
Minimum Air Canada AQS required for Prestige 25K status
12
Air Canada AQS earned to date
4
Air Canada AQS required for next status
8
thanks so much, Roberta

The information shows 4 segments, just like the donut (Air Canada AQS earned to date: 4).

You need a minimum of another 8 segments for Prestige 25K status (Air Canada AQS required for next status: 8).

That's actually not true.

That requirement is only for early recognition, and will disappear at the end of this year, and has no impact on 2017 status.

And there is no early recognition for P25K.

You need 25 AQS to earn P25K status.

Last year (and for early recognition on higher statuses this year), you needed 50% of those to be on AC metal.

So if P25K qualified for early recognition, you would need 21 more AQS, 8 of which would have to be on AC flights.

I had to think about this and came to the same conclusion before reading your post.

Even as a seasoned FTer the info they show on the Altitude page is confusing when friends and relatives ask me about their account.

Just Altitude?

I think 80% of the statements on the Air Canada sites (parent and child sites) are confusing.

I also think it's intentional.

Heck, in years past, I had eupgrades expire because I didn't know how they worked. It wasn't until I started reading FT that I even began to learn a thing or two.

Good points! I should've mentioned those.
