Awards between TK and Lufthansa
Hello. I just booked the first part of my trip in october from YUL to MXP with Delta. I need now to book the return (MXP-YUL or MUC-YUL). what are your comments about each choice ? Choice between TK or Lufthansa. Business class. TK is cheaper but, with the last days events, is it a too risky choice ? Lufthansa is better but, is it Worth (business class - MUC or FRA to YUL).
ps: its 52000 points each seat. anybody can let me know if there is some open seats on october 14th-2016 ? I have to move points from SPG to miles and more OR Aeroplan. Can I put on hold the awards with Lufthansa ?

I would vote for TK but only you can decide about the risk.
You can't put awards on hold with AE. Not sure if you can with M&M, maybe ask in their forum?

To add onto this question: TK are currently offering no-charge rebooking and rerouting, as is often done following incidents of this type.
What happens in a situation like this, if you're flying an AP award ticket on TK metal?

The question might be moot, as checking AE I'm not seeing any LH availability but there is availability on TK via both MXP and MUC.
I hear you re: the safety issue. I'm flying through IST on TK in 2 weeks, and seriously considered changing my reservation last night, but some thought and cooling off has led me to stick with my original itinerary.
Good question. Our dates are outside the free-change period announced, so not sure what would have happened if we had attempted to change our flights.

Your choice whether or not to go into town, though.

imho IST is currently one of the most secure airports worldwide, right up there with BRU. It really depends on if you want to avoid it because of concerns about safety ... or because of the nightmare of additional security.
On the question of going into town, just be aware it'll be a much longer process to get back in.
On the TK vs LH; as has been mentioned it depends on the seating for LH quality. Most LH flights have the upgraded cabins but you should be able to check your flight number listing on seatguru. Of course there's always a chance of a downgrade and there are still some potential footsie issues due to shared footrest with a small barrier.
Another thought, hard to say without knowing your timings but review the connecting times. I prefer to get the shortest hop followed by the longest hop when returning home. With a short but MCT valid connection time. And if the transit time is short how many more flights are there - I'd ventue LH has lots of flights that'd get you to YUL or failing that YOW/YYZ with a short hop onto YUL.
