I would assume he was talking about longhaul.

I think it's clear he meant "on comparable routes".

So I guess the better question is...

1) What price differential would you pay for Tango -> J?
2) What's the typical price differential on offer for TPAC?
I just picked a random date in August, for YYZ->PVG. The one-way prices (for a return flight, but I didn't have the energy to do a complete pseudo booking) were:
  • Tango: $721
  • Flex: $1171
  • Latitude: $2466
  • PY: $1091
  • J: $2028

Obviously it's all going to vary based on dates & availability & seats already sold ... but to my way of thinking, if you're flying to PVG then getting a PY seat for that price is a no-brainer.

I'm speaking as someone who's company won't pay the extra for PY, and so I've paid the additional delta to get into PY myself (most recently this past weekend). For me, it's totally worth it.
