eUpgrade Waitlisted Question

Good day all,

I am wondering how eUpgrades clear. As an Elite 50K member, I get 8 days before departure to upgrade to J. As such, I've waited 8 days prior to departure and was waitlisted while using my eUpgrades. I noticed the J cabin was half filled (I'm not sure about the exact R availability).

I check today (March 26 is the flight) and there are only two more J seats left...Were the remaining J seats upgraded or purchased by customers?

Yes. That or people cleared ahead of you (rare).

You could have put in your request 10 days ahead on a flex fare as there is a promo going on. It usually is a 5 day window for E50Kers

Also could be that there was Z inventory but no R. So that latitude booking might have been upgraded.

superangrypenguin, what is the promo going on? E50k is normally 8 days before departure on Flex fare for transborder flights.

Crap. My bad. I dropped from a E75K (which was 10 days) to a E50K this year. You're right, it's 8 days for a E50K.

I'm not familiar with upgrades with Z availability. Does availability in Z mean all latitude tickets get a free upgrade?

Latitude upgrades come from a different bucket. So Stranger is absolutely spot on.

If you can't upgrade (and confirm it), and someone with a Latitude fare books a ticket and does an upgrade, then J inventory would drop.

No. For latitude upgrade can be confirmed at time of reservation for the latitude credit requirement, if (for domestic/NA) there is Z availability. P for international.

Flex/lowest PE requires R. Latitude, flexible PE requires either Z or P.

If you post your flight details, someone here can check EF for you to see how the loads look.

It's also very possible that the cabin was not half empty. Are you just checking the seat map? Or are you actually using EF to check space? Often times seats are sold but not assigned.

I was checking the seat map, but J seats should be assigned nevertheless.
If you don't mind, I'm flying YVR to YYZ on AC1136 for May 26, 2016 departure and would appreciate R availability. Thanks!

If you can change flights, 1182 (dep 1145 am) is R3 (as of 11.56 Eastern today). Narrowbody however (320). Not much other R availability all day.

Thanks! Any chance my waitlist will clear at the gate with the 3 remaining J seats?
Unfortunately, I'm pretty much stuck as I'm flying inbound from SEA via AC8090. However, that flight is fully booked and my family members doesn't have a seat (Tango fare for them)

Yes, there is "any chance", but as an E50K, it's unlikely.
