I believe re-selling your Altitude privileges for profit would be pretty open-and-shut grounds to invoke that clause, wholly different from the things you listed.

You are welcome to disagree.

I don't think he disagrees with you, it's just that the wording of the ToS just say it has to be detrimental to AC.

I'd actually argue that using your upgrades is more detrimental than selling your status.

Someone buying status doesn't fly enough to earn it on their own. Which means they wouldn't likely get much use out of it either.

A $500 credit card probably gets you all the same benefits.

LMU is $1000 and I upgrade. My 26 eUps just cost AC $1000.

Heck, what about IKKing the last seat on a flight? That's also quite "detrimental".

Yes. Wire me $397,000 and I will get you to 3MM within a few days.

I'm all for extra segments/flying, but I'm missing something regarding why you'd want to work so hard to get to E50 if we're almost halfway through the year and you only have 5,000 miles in seat so far. Do you have a lot of flying for the second half of the year or next year you want to do in comfort or just for the fun of getting there? I'm all for it, just not fully understanding.

Yes, this blanket statement... It is detrimental to:
- Redeem miles
- Use the MLL on status
- Actually fly the ticket purchased, weighing the plane down
- Drink an extra coke onboard
- Use the lav more than once per 4-hr segment
- Waste TP wiping the lav seat before sitting
- Break a glass unintentionally onboard
- Use your 3-bag allowance
- Use your eUpgrades
etc... essentially, it is detrimental to actually use your privileges.

Oh dear. I'm guilty of most of those. I've also taken advantage of the YQ waiver, the change fee waiver back when that was still around, MLL guest privileges. Not to mention using other *A lounges with my *G status, sometimes even bringing in a guest with me!

I expect my SE status to be gone by tomorrow.

All very good points. Unfortunately, as I believe the very guy who is advocating the idea has discovered, AC can pretty much do what it wants, or at least it thinks it can, and will continue to do so, unless and until otherwise proven in a court of law.

Yes. So let's see what happens in a few months... and let's see in how many courts.

For you, mileage run seems the way to go.

For me, I'm not sure mileage or segment run yet. Or do both... more segments is more mileage if same price.

Yeah, mileage seems more like it. I'm planning a YYZ-DXB in PY or a YVR-DEL in J (but it doesn't start until October 20th; no early recognition; not a deal breaker). These would put me somewhere between E35K and 50K.

I'd still need a bit more after this, and could you some suggestions/tips to bridge that gap.

@Adam Smith - if I had $397K of float stashed in my bra, I would give it to you immediately to assist me in attaining 3MM.

But alas, I only have $5 stashed in my bra. Will you accept that?

To others... Any other suggestions on how I can get 3MM? I'll leave it compeletely open ended and provide little to no specifics.

Keep flying like normal :)

Also change your name to match mine so I can use your status :)

Start flying Aeroflot. AC'll never see it coming.

Then, start incessantly texting AC with photos of how happy you and DL are together. Surely they'll get jealous and come crawling back.

I'm honestly not sure how this could go wrong.

You specifically want 3MM or the benefits afforded thereof?

Well the benefits are quite interesting.

You're SEMM for life, regardless of how much or little you fly. So you're always top of the upgrade list, even for your fly-once-a-year-(on AC)-to-visit-grandmother trip.

But for $397k could you not purchase the benefits throughout your life? I guess not... Status is really hard to quantify in terms of economic benefit. The J flights you can buy. A few other things, you cannot... meal selection priority, concierge...

Although I find I am treated better by AC crew without status. At least, the very few times I've flown J with AC since status suspension.
