Question about multi-class redemption
Hi,
I am looking for YUL-SFO flights on april with very flexible dates, and can't seem to find that much availability for the AC direct flight there. My gf is not a big fan of flying so direct flight is #1 priority (and she'll be 4.5 months pregnant).
I am looking at both business and economy and only on some days I am able to find economy seats on the direct flights. Unfortunately, the dates don't really work for a 8-11 days trip in terms of having a direct flight both ways.
If I need to take a flight with a connection on our return, is it possible to book in business for that flight, and economy for direct to go (since there are no seats in business)? My first thought is to book one-way in economy and one way in business. Is there another way? Can I expect seats to open even if we are kinda last minute?
Thanks for the help.

Yes, you can do that as two one-ways. If you do it as a return trip, you'll pay the business points for the whole trip, whereas if you do it as two one ways you'll pay the correct fare for each.

Related question. What if you a redemption with econ and business mix and they charge you for business. Do they automatically upgrade you at the airport if business seats are available? How does it work. Or r u stuck in economy?

Yes.
But do not book the flight expecting that.
