GOL joins Aeroplan as a new airline partner

https://www3.aeroplan.com/whats_new/...046_2016_01_29

As of February 1, 2016, GOL has joined the Aeroplan Program as Aeroplan’s newest airline partner.
GOL, based in Brazil, is the largest low-cost and best-fare airline in Latin America. They offer approximately 900 daily flights to 73 destinations, 17 of which are international, in South America, the Caribbean and the United States. GOL uses a young, modern fleet of Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, the safest, most efficient and most economical of their type.

Aeroplan Miles earned on all eligible GOL flights do not count toward Air Canada Altitude™ status.

Star Alliance ™ Gold and Silver Benefits are not extended by GOL.

Redemption on GOL is currently not offered

Find out how to earn miles aboard GOL right now.

What a warm, tight partnership!! It's basically a real-life Corporate version of a Hallmark card or a Rockwell painting.

Kidding aside, this will make it (marginally) easier to connect to secondary SA cities via GRU ........ I hope

GOL now earns AE but not AC miles

The very efficient Brazilian carrier, GOL, which some day should become a *A member, is now recognized by Aeroplan. I got 250 Miles for Aeroplan for a recent flight earlier this month, but I did not get any AC Altitude Miles! This was for a connection using UAL via GRU.

This is the first time I have received any credit for a GOL flight.

Given that AC no longer flies to GIG, it is high time AC jumped on board with an official mileage earning carrier otherwise UAL is going to take all the business for itself with its excellent daily service to GIG.

Here is the GOL chart as a new Aeroplan partner:

Eligible Booking Classes Minimum Miles
Class of Service Booking
Classes Base Miles
&
Class of Service
Bonus* Air Canada
Altitude Members Aeroplan

Economy Comfort C, L 150% 375 miles Actual Distance

F, D 125% 313 miles
Economy Y, T, J 100% 250 miles
W, P, E, A 75% 188 miles
U, N, B 50% 125 miles

Correct on AE miles only. The real benefit with our company is avoiding in-country luggage fees as GOL segments can be linked to your inbound or outbound flight as a quasi *A member.

does anyone have any experience redeeming on GOL or tried incorporating them into a redemption? it seems like availability doesn't match what's shown on expertflyer or DL's website but not sure if just need to HUACA or if availability is different depending on the partner

Link from Aeroplan to GOL is down for reward bookings

I called Aeroplan to book the following itinerary YVR-AC-YYZ-AC-GRU-G3-GIG
The flight on G3 (Gol) shows X space available on ExpertFlyer
As I was speaking to the agent they told me they've been having issues booking GOL. Sure enough, he could see there was X space, but when he put the request to GOL to confirm the space for my reso it failed. He spent another 20 minutes playing with different dates and rebuilding the file, but nothing worked.
Apparently Aeroplan is having the same issue with COPA (according to this agent)

This is extremely frustrating, does anyone know how long these issues take to get fixed? weeks? months?

AQM on non-Star AC codeshare

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked and answered (or obvious) but I couldn't find it anywhere.

I am flying YYZ-GRU-CNF return.

The YYZ-GRU legs are on AC metal, so I am fine - I get my AQMs.

The GRU-CNF legs are on GOL metal, but they are on an AC code (an AC flight number.) Do I get AQMs for these GOL-flown legs or just AE miles? If they didn't have an AC flight number, I know it's just AE miles but I am wondering if the code makes a difference.

Thanks!

This Aeroplan Partner page for GOL page will tell you that you earn Aeroplan miles, but read the fine print

https://www.aeroplan.com/earn_miles/...do?Partner=GOL
.
.
  • Earn miles when you purchase an eligible booking class and travel on flights operated by GOL. Some exceptions may apply.
  • Aeroplan Miles earned on all eligible GOL flights do not count towards Air Canada Altitude™ status.

I've had challenges even getting Aeroplan miles credited for GOL flights. Since they've all been flights between GIG and GRU, I haven't bothered getting too upset about this.

Booked an AC ticket with one codeshare segment on GOL (AC 9801). How can I find the GOL PNR so I can select seats?

Doesn't Gol use amadeus? In which case it should be the same. Otherwise, aircanada.com should show the booking reference.

Use the “CheckMyTrip” app. Only way it worked for me.
