Fuel surcharge on partners redemption
Hi! Looking to redeem some awards on Ana flights. According to ANA websites, the fuel surcharge is almost negligible but aeroplan still charges the fees.any way to ask them to update the fees? It's about 100CAD more per ticket

Government approved "real" fuel surcharge to/from Japan is currently 10500yen each way.
Just checked Aeroplan: 1-way ORD-NRT on ANA (Nov 24 departure) = 37500 points + 118.6 carrier surcharge + 37.1 US taxes and fees
So Aeroplan charges 5 CAD over what the official inter-bank exchange rate works out to be.

Tried to book a Luftansa reward a few months ago. AP assumed me it was partner who levied the charges. Said it was new with Luftansea. They pointed out same itinerary on SAS was a fraction of the surcharge.

The fuel surcharge if you book today is 10500 each way, whether on ANA website or Aeroplan. There is no gouging as you implied in the original post.
When Dec 1 comes and Aeroplan is still asking for $110 YQ, you have a valid complaint.

I'm also trying to book an award NRT-BKK-NRT on TG flights. THAI have waived fuel surcharge as of 1st of December for TG operated flights ex-Japan but aeroplan still attempt to charge me CAD 211.40 as "carrier surcharge". Where does this amount come from?

carrier does not mean (100%) fuel. Could mean other things. Does it say if it's YQ YR etc ?
