I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

It's not like the price difference is always ridiculous.

Before I purchased my YUL-YYC round trip, only the high demand time slots seemed to have very high flex fare prices.

The rest of them were like tango price + advance seat selection + BoB PR07 + checked luggage + $50-75.

Not half bad imo.

I think the routes with high differences in price are just because there is more demand (for eUp or whatever reason).

If someone doesn't want to pay extra for flex, then the next upgrade is PE or J.

And if someone can't afford or doesn't want to pay for J, then just buy a Tango ticket and stop chasing status.

I feel like all we're doing is crying over the fact that we can't afford to buy higher fares and have no excuses to spend the extra cash.

I know we joke about it, but if all we can afford is Tango and not get status, then there's nothing wrong with that.

Since we're talking travel policies: Paris HQ'd company, NA HQ in Houston. Energy industry. J over 5 hours (excluding NA transcontinental). Lowest fare available within employee's requested time window (+/- 90 minutes of requested time if possible). Nonstop preferred unless there is a huge cost difference. Employee inputs the start and end point and times and travel department takes it from there. Proposed itinerary with cost estimate comes back for a final OK before ticketing. Expensing of premium service fees (e.g. LMUs, lounge access, preferred seat) not permitted.
