I was humorously responding to this post on page 1:

I cant see any scenario where paid J isn't in zone 1.

If you have paid for J you should be among the first to board, and coincidentally the same should go for meal choice IMO.

Zonal Boarding?

Just saw this on the Toronto Star

Air Canada adopts new boarding policy, with five zones

Wondering if anyone has experienced it yet?

[mods, please merge or delete this post if necessary]

Zone 1 will be for those travelling in business class and super elite frequent flyers, and Zone 2 will be for those travelling in premium economy, other frequent flyers as well as those who hold certain credit cards that grant priority boarding.

Trials start next month apparently. And based on the article, e75ks aren't in group one as the article indicates. Damn. How much more do I have to bend next year. Sigh

Andrew Yiu is quoted several times in the article.

As a longtime SuperElite, I welcome the change.

It does not specify, but I assume Star Alliance Gold is in Zone 2.

Andrew- can you please confirm?

They could have at least followed united's boarding order. There is no point for the 75 tier.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. If you are in Zone 2 (and I'll be there someday) you will suffer the ignominy of shuffling past all the J passengers, but realistically on most flights there will only be a handful of SE's tucked in ahead of you in Y. You will still have ample bin space.

Frankly I'm shocked AC will let non-SE J class passengers board in zone 1 given the disdain AC holds us in.

Isn't it a terrible idea to run trials during this time of the year due to all the holiday travel?

I have no idea. I was just referring to a post Andrew made (or Ben) in one of the threads here starting a December trial. I suspect they chose December because 1) leisure customers won't care that they are being inconvenienced and business travelers might have a slower than usual month (December) and 2) Trial by fire? - if it works in December it surely will work the rest of the year? I dunno, just speaking out of my bum.

And I am shocked AC will let SE passengers board in zone 1 given the disdain AC holds us in.

My prediction:

- Zone 1: AC employees
- Zone 2: AC employee's friends and family
- Zone 3: there is no zone 3, zone 1 and 2 members are still getting settled
- Zone 4: Paid J
- Zone 5: Y and *G
- Zone 6: any Altitude member

It is all nice to hear but entirely irrelevant if not enforced at the gate. So little enforcement happens now I don't know why anyone believes it will change.
