Will a segment be earned?

Booked a one way cheapo fare with United and I'm a segment qualifier so I've got SNA-SFO-PDX-YVR in United L class.

Looks like SNA-SFO-PDX will earn 100% miles (which is very few that's fine) and segments but based on the chart at https://www.united.com/cms/en-US/mar...spx?ItemId=313 and the ** I'm thinking that I won't earn a segment for PDX-YVR?

The flight is operated by AC, but I don't know how L class transfers to AC. I've always booked cheapo UA in the past and got segments (T class IAH-YVR got me 985 miles and 1 segment).

Long story short, I didn't realize there were fares that didn't earn segments. Will this get me a segment as I expected? If not, what's different between this and my T class flight since they're all lumped together in the "discount economy" group on that chart.

Every flight on AC metal will earn you 1 AQS.

Brilliant, that's what I thought but this UA table really had me befuddled.

UA doesn't award EQS for Tango fare, since it sound like you will be crediting to AC, you will get your AQS as canadiancow stated above.

AC Tango fare does not earn EQS is the reason why I didn't switch over to United MP this year.

I didn't really realize it was based on who you credit to and not who you buy from. I still find subtle differences in programs like that. But I guess it's a good thing I stick with AP because while my work flights are all Flex and mostly M class, all my leisure travel is Tango or whatever the cheapest UA/CM/AV fares are.

Let me ask you this though. Is there ANY fare class in STAR where I wouldn't get a segment credit to AP?

I think it's already happened to me once this year, but that's the first time. I flew YMM-YVR-YYZ-MIA-SAL-MDE...AC-AC-AC-AV-AV. SAL-MDE I knew would be ex-Taca, but since the merger with AV I figured I'd be fine, since it had a mainline AV flight number and was marketed by them.

When my segment never came I tried the online form, AV flight number didn't work, TA did...still never showed up. So I called...the first response from the agent was "you won't get miles/segments for that because it says here it's operated by LACSA and that doesn't apply". I explained to her the situation and she said her system accepted it, but it's been over a month now, still nothing. Anyone with any experience on this?
