I was in a 744, on the upper deck, in a backward facing pod. I found it bigger
and better for sleeping than the AC 777/787 pods, primarily because you can
lower the aisle arm rest for a wider shoulder/arm position. I also found their
meal to be better than AC - they had a real salad, with choices of dressing.
Midflight noodle/wonton soup also better than AC's. I was only disappointed with their IFE - although there is a playlist function, there is no music to select from. TV and movie selection was distinctly inferior to AC's.
So UA J > AC J (Hawksworth?) for food? That's surprising to me.

Sorry, but backwards facing pod = no thanks. Tried that years ago on BA J...never again.

Yes, but they are not flying UA, which more than makes up for 10 across seating.

This has been a tough slog for me... Trying to figure out if I should move to UA once I hit AC 3MM.

Is UA F actually better than AC J?

Don't know that one but those upgrades on LH and now NH you get with UA would sure be appealing.

Why? AA and DL are a lot better.

No, UA F is 2 to 3 steps down from AC J.

WHAT????

Much as I dislike and ridicule UA F, especially in comparison to LH, LX,NH,
and particularly SQ, there is no way it is "2 or 3 steps down" from AC J.

Seat is much bigger and more comfortable than AC J.

Food is at least equal to AC J.

IFE is slightly worse.

What I don't like about UA F is the open curtain to J ( and the entire aircraft),
no PJ's or caviar, and the always full cabin due to upgrades.

Your statement might apply to domestic UA F and AC J, but not to international longhauls.

Regarding the curtain, as of late I've only noticed the see-through variety...

LOL. You've obviously not flown UA recently, or USdbaAA for that matter.

+1
UA possibly offers the worst international first class experience, but it is still better than AC J.
If AC J was actually better than UA F, that would mean AC has a J product that has F quality...no way.

Yes, I was talking about Dom flights.

3 weeks ago and UA J service was bad on both flights. Even serviced drinks in plastic glass on 1 flight.

I agree.

On international markets, UA F is definitely better than AC J.

But, it's F, and I'd expect as much.

Would I pay the premium over AC J? Absolutely not.

What flight and route? Mainline or UX?
And when was the last time you actually flew AA?

Umm, no.

F is F. International UA F, as much as people like to dump on it is still pretty much better than the overwhelming majority of J products out there (CX and SQ included). J is pretty much hard product - service is a wash to me between most of these airlines, and the UA F product is much more spacious than J on such carriers. Would I pay a premium for it over J, hell no. If the cost is equal, I would take it any day over any J product.
