Steamer trunks?

Maybe it's just me but is seems like since the security fee went into place the screeners are no longer paying any attention to oversized carryon bags, last few flights I've been on there have been multiple individuals with bags that more resemble steamer trunks than something that would could squeeze into the sizer. One flight delayed for multiple pax to gate check bags and on others I had trouble finding a spot to wedge in my little shoulder bag.

I've not seen any excessive size bags, but the days of bolted down bag sizers on the X-ray machines seem to have gone. On all my flights this year, I've seen them just slide up the template.
