MileTracker

On another airline's thread I found some very positive discussion about a (free) program called Miletracker ( http://www.moonlightlabs.com/miletracker.html ). It is supposed to track frequent flyer accounts and it updates specials. Aeroplan is one of the listed programs. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is there a downside or known computer effect?

I tried it and it worked fine. Don't think I've re-installed it since they went from v0.993 to v0.997 (new file format, have to re-enter my information).

That said, there are others that do more. MileTracker goes to each site and checks your balance, no more and no less (at least not that I remember). I think there are other systems that will help you track individual transactions, make sure they post, etc., etc.

Have you been able to retrieve AP information lately? For many weeks I get this status with MileTracker:

Cannot determine. Please try again later or use Navigate on the right.
Thanks

Fiumicino,

Nope, Aeroplan has not been working for a few weeks now. I think Aeroplan changed the web page for the summary and Miletracker need to update it. I send an e-mail a couple of weeks ago and no updates yet.

This is a topic that has been quite active in MilesBuzz! which is a forum for things frequent flyer program related. Here's the links to other threads on the topic:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=383311

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=613515

As was related above, there is another program with a few more tools to manage the results:
http://www.mileagemanager.com

and since we always try and help each other on FlyerTalk (right?), here's a tip i gave to the OP, MileageManager does cost to assist you in managing your miles but i know a link where it is free:
http://www.mileagemanager.com/forbes.php

Hope this helps.

For housekeeping purposes, I'll close this thread since it is not all that relevant to AC but keep in mind, that if you have a question about something to post on FT or to find topics on FT, please contact a Moderator and we can assist you. For instance with MileTracker, one of the threads above has over 129 posts on it and it pretty comprehensive for anyone considering using the program.
