CANPASS user question?
I go back and forth to Toronto quite a bit, usually by car. I signed up for CANPASS because it can be used at land border crossings, not just at airports. Anyone have any experience with this system? Input from all is welcome, but I'm especially interested in hearing from US citizens, so I have a better understanding of how it works in my case. Thanks!

It should work the same for a US citizen as a Canadian. More importantly though, it should work, which for the most part it does not. The only airport in Canada with a CANPASS station is Vancouver, and even before September 11 it worked only sporadicly. Since then it has been completely shut down.
Given the current situation, you'd probably waste more time applying for it than you'd save in a dozen or more trips.

There is an INSPASS Kiosk at YYZ, however since 9/11 I've only seen it open once. When inquiring with the US Customs Folk, they have been unable to answer whether/when it would reopen.
Anyone heard as to when/if it will reopen? As most of my trips are to the US it has been a great benefit to circumvent the (long) customs line-up.
